Originally named Saeki Misa, she dropped out of high school at age 15 and began training for a music career. Under her professional name, Aikawa Nanase, she released her first single, "Yumeiru Shoujo Ja Irarenai" on November 8th, 1995. Soon after the release of her Purana album, one that showed a more conventional image of her, it was announced that she was married and pregnant. Her son was born on September 6th, 2001.
