Devi is a fairly normal, and fairly simple girl, despite the fact that she's incredibly antisocial, as well as slowly going insane. But, considering that the majority of the social outings she has attempted have ended in death and disaster, it is no wonder she retreats to reading and painting alone in her apartment for comfort. She also has an incredibly bad history with men, but she doesn't feel that she likes girls enough to give up on men entirely.
